Patrick and Valeria have been in Montreal a little over two months. They’ve had so much to do that they haven’t had the time to get to know Montreal. A few weeks ago, we invited listeners of « Samedi et rien d’autre », Radio-Canada’s popular Saturday morning radio program, hosted by Joel Le Bigot, to suggest the places they would like Patrick and Valeria to visit around Montreal. The response was outstanding. In a matter of minutes, we received dozens of calls and email messages. There were so many, in fact, that we decided to devote two webisodes to this theme. From the author: Alberta’s Tar Sands are a true embarrassment for Canadians. Not only is it a human rights crisis for the Indigenous communities living in Alberta and British Columbia, but an environmental disaster. A new extension to a current pipeline has been proposed to carry oil, all the way to Texas, putting some of North America’s most fragile ecosystems and waterways in at risk. Bill McKibben and his team at 350.org helped spearhead a movement called Tar Sands Action, enlisting the help of people all over the US and Canada willing to express their dismay and anger about this possible new pipeline.
